Since the unjust death of George Floyd in the United States on May 25, Singapore's social media sphere has once again been set ablaze with the topic of racism.
While discourse is generally a good thing, Preetipls has presented the other side of the coin in a series of tweets on June 3.
The Singaporean influencer said her social media inboxes have been flooded with racist tweets and Instagram Stories, with followers asking her to share her thoughts on the posts or even call the posters out.
Preeti, however, responded that she was "f*cking exhausted", and cited the Jamie Chua saga as an example.
Six weeks ago
Earlier in April, local socialite Jamie Chua an Instagram Story mentioning her "nightmare" about migrant workers.
Preeti then hit back with the following tweet:
my thoughts and prayers go out to millionaire Jamie Chua šš„ŗš« https://t.co/C91jR7e4Ru

Chua later removed her Story and posted an apology, saying that she will be donating to two charities that support migrant workers.
While this incident may have happened almost two months ago, Preeti has since revealed in her Twitter thread that she was contacted by Chua's business partner then for advice.
The partner allegedly asked Preeti what Chua should do in light of the fallout, and even requested Preeti to keep the Story "on the down low" as Preeti was the "keeper of the Indian race".
When Preeti asked the partner to repeat herself, the latter apparently laughed it off.
Subsequently, Chua's business partner shared Preeti's phone number with Chua without Preeti's permission, Preeti claimed.
Preeti felt that the sole purpose was for Chua to call her, so that the socialite could feel better about herself.
As to why she entertained the call, Preeti explained:
"I entertained the call only as it was an opportunity for me to tell someone with an immense amount of privilege and resources that their actions were wrong, use this opportunity to educate and suggest what they could do (an apology and donation to our fundraiser - TWC2 & Healthserve)."
According to Preeti, Chua said, "I donated before you know" in the course of their conversation.
While the socialite eventually took Preeti's suggestion to apologise and donate to a relevant cause, Preeti implicitly expressed that the positive articles following the move were not well-deserved.
Preeti added:
"Itās exhausting. Thatās all I am saying. No way in hell comparing being brown in SG to being a minority anywhere else in the world. THIS is my reality of being a brown girl in SG who gives too much of a f*ck most times.
I am NOT the keeper of anything, just here to make people laugh while calling out the bullshit all around me."
In her last tweet, Preeti said that she will be prioritising her mental health from now on.
While she will try to educate the "tone-deaf" the best she can, she will only do so within her capacity, and when it does not seem like a lost cause.

thereāve been countless of DMs in my twitter and IG inbox just from the last 48 hours filled with racist tweets, IG stories or people who simply donāt believe racism even exists with the attached message asking me to ācall this person outā or āwhat are your thoughts on this?ā
