Cannot socialise.

Diners should not remove their masks for the "whole duration" they are out dining, but only while eating and drinking, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on June 24.

MOH reiterated in response to media queries that masks must be worn at all times to prevent droplets from spreading Covid-19, except when performing strenuous activities or while eating or drinking.

The clarifications, MOH said, were based on observations made since the start of phase two of the circuit breaker reopening in Singapore.

This meant that socialising during meals should not be happening, unless necessary.

MOH said: "Masks should not be removed for the whole duration while dining out, but only when actually eating/ drinking."

Regarding the removal of masks for communicating with others, MOH responded: "Masks are not permitted to be removed for the sole purpose of talking to others."

"When not wearing a mask, individuals should minimise talking or singing to reduce the risk of droplet spread," MOH added.

"Masks should be worn immediately after completing the strenuous activity or meal."

The ministry also warned that "there is increased risk of a resurgence in community transmission, as we have seen in other countries", with the resumption of more economic and community activities.

MOH urged people in Singapore to "remain vigilant and disciplined in how we go about our daily activities" and maintain safe distancing measures at all times, while limiting total interactions to a small and regular group of contacts.
