SDA had previously announced that it would only contest Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Lim Tean, leader of the People's Voice (PV), has announced where his party will be running for GE2020.

In a June 25 post on Facebook, Lim said that PV would be fielding a total of 12 candidates across five constituencies.

The constituencies are:

  • Jalan Besar GRC
  • Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC
  • Pioneer SMC
  • Mountbatten SMC
  • Punggol West SMC

Constructive talks but facing three-cornered fight

Lim said the decision to contest these constituencies came after "much discussions and constructive talks with our friends in the opposition".

He mentioned the Progress Singapore Party and Red Dot United as parties that PV had discussions with.

"No party has given more to opposition unity than PV has, and we hope that this unified spirit will see all the opposition parties to a resounding and historic victory come 11 July!" he wrote.

This points to a likelihood of a three-cornered fight at Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, as the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) had previously announced that it would only contest Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

In response to queries from Mothership, SDA chairman Desmond Lim said the party "only came to know through the media".

"There was no courtesy call from him in regard to the above mentioned."

We have reached out to Lim Tean for comment, and will update this article when he replies.
