A Japanese company, Kowagarasetai, has launched what they claim to be Japan's first drive-in haunted house experience in Tokyo.

SoraNews reported that the experience was created in light of the coronavirus outbreak and is set inside a garage that is located in Tokyo's Higashi Azabu district.

According to SoraNews, the event has a backstory:

“This is a garage where a horrible incident occurred long ago. Now people say that if you park your car inside and honk your horn three times, something will happen.”

This is followed by a chilling story being told via your car's radio as you sit inside the parked car.

A hoard of monsters in the form of ghosts, zombies and more will then terrorise you from outside the car.

Social distancing regulations

Customers will be seated in the car throughout the session, which will not only keep them safe from the "monsters", but also minimise contact to abide by social distancing regulations, according to SoraNews.

If you would like a little souvenir, customers can also opt for the staff to "make your car bloody", which will cost an additional 1,000 yen (S$13.02).

The event is priced at 8,000 yen (S$104.19) per car and will be held on two days.

Those who own a car can attend the event on July 4, from 12pm to 7:30pm.

However, those who do not own a car can attend the event on July 5, from 11am to 6:30pm and pay an additional fee of 1,000 yen (S$13.02) to use one of the cars provided to take part in the event, which will be disinfected after each performance.

Each session will last for around 20 minutes and reservations can be made here.

You can also opt to include a commemorative photo for an additional 1,500 yen (S$19.54).
