With more people staying at home, it seems like food delivery riders are working harder to fulfil these orders.

And perhaps one food delivery rider, in particular, has been working too hard.

On June 4, Facebook user Kelvin Tay shared his encounter with a food delivery rider on the road in Sengkang.

Rider collapsed on motorcycle

Tay was on driving his way home when he noticed the rider who suddenly collapsed with his motorcycle on the road.

He then went out of his car to check if the rider was ok and realised that he looked "very pale" and felt that his body was cold.

The rider could only repeatedly say that his stomach was in pain.

After helping the rider to pick his motorcycle up, Tay advised the rider to go home and rest.

Offered to deliver on his behalf

However, the responsible rider insisted on sending his current order before going home.

To make sure he was safe, Tay decided to escort the rider home and offered to send the final food order for him.

Thankfully, the unwell rider accepted his offer.

After experiencing this incident, Tay asked for Singaporeans to have more empathy for food delivery riders.

"Times like these are not easy. Sometimes if they are slightly late, it's definitely not intentional. I hope Singaporeans will have more empathy towards them, especially times like now when delivery is on the rise. Coming from delivery background myself, I know and understand how tough it can be. But always remember... Health comes first."

Tay's post has since garnered 2,000 shares.

The post reached one Ashton Goh who claims to be the rider and later commented on the post to thank Tay for his help.
