Covid-19: 405 more cases in S'pore discharged, 119 new cases on June 23

In total, there are 42,432 cases.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 119 new cases of Covid-19 infection as of Tuesday, June 23, 12pm.

This brings the total number of cases to 42,432.

The vast majority of the cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

There are three cases in the community, including one Work Pass holder, one Work Permit holder and one Singapore Permanent Resident case.

Here are the case details:

All three cases in the community had been picked up as a result of proactive surveillance and screening.

The Singapore Permanent Resident case (Case 42462) had been detected due to proactive surveillance of persons working at dormitories, even though he is asymptomatic.

Both the Work Pass/ Work Permit holders (Cases 42405 and 42438) are also asymptomatic but were tested as part of efforts to screen workers in essential services.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of seven cases per day in the week before, to an average of four per day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at an average of two per day in the past two weeks.

Update on current cases

There are currently 192 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

6,219 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

26 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.

405 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 35,995 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

Case 28388, a 48 year-old male Indian national, has passed away on June 23, 2020.

He had been sent to the emergency department at Singapore General Hospital after fainting in the early morning of June 23 at a temporary housing site for migrant workers.

He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on May 15, and had recovered from the infection. The cause of death was ischaemic heart disease.
