Another South Korean idol is going to be officially off the market.

Changmin getting married

On June 12, TVXQ member Max Changmin announced that he is going to marry his girlfriend on Sep. 5, 2020.

The 32-year-old shared the big news to his fans through a letter he had handwritten himself.

According to the letter, he's "apologetic" for the sudden news but feels that it is only right to share the news himself.

Here's the handwritten letter:

Here's a rough translation for non-Korean readers:

"Hello. This is Changmin from TVXQ.

I want to share an announcement to my fans, so I am taking the courage to personally write this letter. It's not easy to talk about this, so I am feeling nervous as I am writing this.

On one hand, I feel sorry and my heart feels heavy for breaking this sudden news which may come as a shock to my fans who have been supporting me all this while. However, I believe it is my duty to tell this news directly to my fans rather than them finding out from other sources.

It has been about 17 years since I made my debut as a singer. In a moment, I turned from a naive high school student in Seoul to someone who is approaching his mid-30s. I have spent almost half my life as a member of TVXQ.

There was a time when I was swept up in uncertainty when Yunho (TVXQ member) and I along with our fans didn't know what would happen to TVXQ. But then fans have protected the band and because the love you gave us, we have been able to come this far. Thank you very much.

As you have heard from news reports from a while ago, I have been dating someone. We have a good relationship with trust and faith in one another and I decided that I want to have a future with her. So we made the decision to get married in September when the heat goes down a little. I would like to thank Yunho who has supported my decision and was happy for me, as well as our agency staff who gave me sincere advice.

I think that the road that I will follow will hold greater responsibility than the road that I have been walking so far. Therefore, I will do my best in every moment as a member of TVXQ, and soon, as the head of a household.

Although the weather has been sweltering hot, these days it feels like a lot of the world has been frozen cold. I hope everyone is in good health, and I thank you for reading this long letter."

First announced relationship last year

Changmin first confirmed his relationship with his non-celebrity girlfriend in Dec. 2019.

This was the first time he made a relationship public since he first debuted as an idol in 2003.
