Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh has penned another note to highlight the contributions of the people working behind the scenes to keep the estates under his party's charge going.
In a June 27 Facebook post, Pritam highlighted one of the professional staff, assistant project manager, Azlinda, as part of his personal ongoing tributes to Aljunied-Hougang Town Council staff.Pritam let on in is post that Linda, as the AHTC staff is known, has worked very closely with former WP secretary-general Low Thia Khiang to bring improvements to the Bedok-Reservoir-Punggol ward of Aljunied GRC.
Linda's work on the operational level involves managing and coordinating improvement work throughout the town, and she has to liaise with other government agencies, such the National Environment Agency, Housing & Development Board, and the Land Transport Authority.
Linda can be seen wear a hard hat in the video as she works outdoors on the ground in the estate.
In Pritam's shout-out to the people on his team, he also thanked his colleague Muhamad Faisal Manap for leading AHTC as chairman since October 2018.
Interesting anecdote featuring Low
Pritam also provided an anecdote in his post about how Low's working style has rubbed off on his peers.
He wrote about how a seemingly mundane decision, such as installing fans in a market, was a deliberative process:
One learns a lot by observing and listening. And when you have mentors like Mr Low, you observe and you listen. I remember at one Town Council meeting, after a suggestion to install additional fans at a particular area of one of the markets in Aljunied GRC, Mr Low, Sylvia Lim and I had a long back and forth about the most appropriate position of the new fans. I think Mr Low quietly appreciated the fact that his MPs were discussing these seemingly small things. He should know that some of his traits and habits have rubbed off on us!
Previously, Pritam shared two videos about a resident's anonymous thank you note for the estate cleaner, and a lift officer working for AHTC who makes it his personal mission to make life convenient for residents.
These three videos so far have appeared on the new Aljunied-Hougang Town Council YouTube channel.
