The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has suspended all large scale overseas exercises this year, including Exercise Wallaby, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

According to MINDEF press release on May 12, smaller-scale training activities in Australia may continue when conditions improve.

SAF's largest overseas exercise

Exercise Wallaby is the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) largest overseas exercise, since its inauguration in 1990, and is held at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Queensland, Australia.

MINDEF said that bilateral defence ties with Australia continue to be strong, and that they look forward to future editions of Exercise Wallaby.

"The joint development of training areas and advanced training facilities in Central and North Queensland will deepen defence cooperation and benefit both armed forces and defence establishments for many years to come," said MINDEF.
