A man supposedly left his place of residence during the current circuit breaker period to pilfer some papayas.

Came prepared with a cutter

According to a Facebook post by World Farm, the incident occurred at 6:55am on May 15 at the farm's garden centre located along 15 Bah Soon Pah Road.

Bah Soon Pah Road is bordering Sembawang and Yishun.

World Farm's boss had witnessed the man shaking the papaya tree violently.

He had even come prepared with a cutter to cut off the yellow papayas from the tree.

Papayas were not ripe

Apparently, the papayas the man stole were not even ripe.

World Farm advised him to keep the fruits for an extra five days until they turn orange and are ready for consumption.

The farm added:

"It is pretty saddening that in such civilization, we still have such uncivilized behaviour... Enjoy your fruits and hope you have the courtesy to respect others' private properties and their efforts in growing their own food even if you don't respect ours."

In another comment, World Farm said that it is actually willing to share papaya leaves and raw papayas if anyone asks for it.

"Taking without asking is just not the right way," it added.
