Covid-19: 626 cases discharged & 884 new cases on May 12

Seven new clusters.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 884 new cases of Covid-19 as of 12pm on Tuesday, May 12.

There are three Singaporeans/Permanent Residents among the confirmed cases, and one work pass holder.

The majority of the cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 24,671.

There are no imported cases today.

Of the new cases, 98 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

There are seven new clusters.

626 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 3,851 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 1,132 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 20 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

19,667 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19. 21 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.

Case 23908, a 50 year-old male Thai national, has passed away on May 12, 2020. He had been sent to the emergency department at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital after suffering respiratory arrest on May 10. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on May 11. The cause of death is cerebral haemorrhage.

Case 24013, a 31 year-old male Indian national, has passed away on May 10, 2020. He had collapsed after complaining of chest pain while at his dormitory. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection after his death on May 11. The cause of death is coronary thrombosis.
