On Apr. 30, Singapore announced its 15th Covid-19 death.

She was Case 703

The patient (Case 703) was a 58-year-old female Singapore Citizen.

She was an imported case who had a travel history to Europe, and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Mar. 26.

As of May 4, she is the youngest patient to have died from complications from Covid-19 in Singapore.

Declared free from Covid-19 a week before her death

According to Berita Mediacorp, Case 703, Salha Mesbee, had no underlying health issues prior to getting infected with Covid-19.

However, the infection left her in a critical condition.

She was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) as her lungs were weak and her blood pressure was high. On top of that, the infection had spread to her other organs, including her kidney and liver.

Despite her condition, doctors had declared Salha free from Covid-19 as they no longer found any trace of the virus in her.

But unfortunately, the after-effects of the infection already took a toll on her body.

The next day, she was found unresponsive and a CT scan showed that she had some swelling on her brain. Salha was then placed on life support in the ICU.

A week later, she passed away.

Other family members also tested positive

Salha leaves behind her husband, three children and five grandchildren.

She tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from a trip to Turkey with her husband.

Her husband, as well as two of her sons, also tested positive for Covid-19. The four of them were hospitalised at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).

On the day of her death, one of Salha's son shared the tragic news on his Facebook page.

He wrote: "Hi everyone. With a heavy heart, I would like to inform you that my beloved mother, Salha binte Mesbee, has passed away."

After her funeral, he dedicated another Facebook post to his mother.

Here's a translation of his post:

"My mother's body was safely buried, all praise to God. The burial went on smoothly. I would like to thank everyone who offered their time, prayers and gifts. I'd also like to apologise if I was unable to respond to everyone's messages. Once again, thank you everyone."

The trip to Turkey was her honeymoon

Salha went to Turkey to celebrate her wedding anniversary with her husband.

It was also the first time they managed to go on a "honeymoon" since they first got married 38 years ago.

One of her children told Berita Mediacorp:

"Mum and dad were always together. Right now, we're just taking care of dad and giving him the necessary support he needs to move forward."
