On April 19, F-drones completed the first commercial Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) drone delivery in Singapore on April 19, 2020.

The drone delivered 2kg of vitamins over 2.7km in 7 minutes to a ship managed by Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS).

EPS is one of the world’s largest privately-owned ship managers and are F-drones’ first paying customer.

While 2.7kg doesn't sound like much, the company's goals is to eventually utilise their proprietary drones, which would be able to send 100kg loads over 100km to ships and offshore platforms.

They are currently using an off-the-shelf drone that can only deliver 5kg loads over 5km.

The proprietary drone capable of 100kg loads is expected to be finished in the second half of 2021.

This is especially useful to marine and offshore applications which rely on small boats and helicopters.

According to the CEO of F-drones, Nicholas Ang, usage of drones to transport items to offshore applications can save up to 80 per cent of costs, time, and CO2 emissions:

“These traditional means of transport are expensive, slow, labour and carbon intensive. F-drones’ solutions can help save up to 80% of the costs, time and CO2 emissions. Besides being efficient, delivery drones can also reduce unnecessary human contact amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”
