Case 1604, who tested positive for Covid-19 after death, passed away due to heart disease

MOH reported that his death was not due to the Covid-19 infection.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed on Apr. 9, that the cause of death for Case 1604, a 32-year-old Indian national, was ischaemic heart disease.

According to SingHealth, ischaemic heart disease, also known as coronary artery disease, is caused by accumulation of cholesterol and fat in the arteries of the heart and leads to the narrowing of coronary arteries.

MOH reported that it is not due to complications from Covid-19 infection.

On Apr. 8, it was reported that the 32-year-old male Long Term Pass holder had passed away at his residence, a day after he was swabbed for Covid-19 at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases on Apr. 7.

He tested positive for Covid-19 after his death.

As of Apr. 9, Singapore has a total of 1,910 confirmed Covid-19 cases and a death toll of six due to the virus.

460 cases have fully recovered from Covid-19 infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
