65-year-old S'porean man, Patient 1836, is 9th Covid-19 death in S'pore

He was in hospital for four days.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced the passing of a 65-year-old male Singaporean due to Covid-19 infection on the afternoon of Apr. 13.

Case 1836 was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on Apr. 9.

He was in hospital for four days.

Khoo Teck Puat Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.

One of the younger patients to die of Covid-19

All eight Covid-19 patients, who passed away due to complications, were elderly patients over the age of 64.

Case 1836, at 65-years-old, is one of the younger patients in Singapore to have died of Covid-19.

The oldest patient to have succumbed to Covid-19 is a 90-year old Singaporean man.

Record 386 new cases

MOH confirmed 386 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday, Apr. 13, 2020.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in Singapore to 2918.

Here's a breakdown of the new cases:

  • Imported cases: Zero
  • Linked to known clusters: 280, of which the vast majority are Work Permit holders in the dormitories.
  • Linked to other cases: 12, of which seven are Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents and five are Work Permit holders.
  • Pending contact tracing: 94, of which 21 are Singapore Citizens/Permanent Residents, five are S-Pass holders, 64 are Work Permit holders, and the rest are Long Term Pass holders.

Four new clusters were announced today (Apr. 13):

  • Six of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to a new cluster at CitiWall (34 Kaki Bukit Crescent).
  • One of the confirmed cases is linked to six previous cases, forming a new cluster at ABC Hostel (3 Jalan Kubor).
  • One of the newly confirmed cases is linked to eight previous cases, forming a new cluster at Tech Park Crescent dormitory (43 Tech Park Crescent).
  • Six of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to a new cluster at Kranji Dormitory (17 Kranji Way).

Discharged cases

Another 26 patients were discharged today.

In all, 586 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.

Of the 1,158 who are still in hospital, 29 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
