Convicted Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for Covid-19.

Tested positive for Covid-19 on Mar. 22

The 68-year-old is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault

According to the Niagara Gazette, Weinstein is now isolated at Wende Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison located in New York.

He is one of two prisoners at the facility who have tested positive for Covid-19.

Weinstein's test came back positive on Sunday (Mar. 22) morning, reported Reuters.

President of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Michael Powers, admitted that he is concerned about the officers who lacked proper protective equipment.

Several staff of the facility have been quarantined.

A lawyer for Weinstein has since claimed that his legal team were not notified of the Covid-19 diagnosis.

Imran Ansari stated via Reuters: “Given Mr. Weinstein’s state of health, we are of course concerned, if this is the case, and we are vigilantly monitoring the situation."

Weinstein's medical issues have been made known to the public over the years.

Following his sentencing, he was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan for heart problems.

Sentenced to 23 years in prison

Since October 2017, dozens of women have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct, including rape.

Weinstein had consistently denied the allegations against him.

But on Mar. 11, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison for sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haley and raping Jessica Mann, a one-time aspiring actress.

Both Haley and Mann spoke at the sentencing.

Hayley told the court:

“If Harvey Weinstein had not been convicted by this jury, it would have happened again and again and again."
