A no-holds-barred review of pineapple tarts without pineapple sold in S'pore

Three Singaporeans friends birthed a galaxy brain product by selling pineapple tarts without pineapple this Chinese New Year:

That's right: All crust, no pineapple.

Our thoughts?

Some might label us as deviants just for thinking about it.

But at S$16.80 per jar, the first honest thought we had was, "Why no pineapple but the price still same?!"

We then proceeded to buy six jars among ourselves — three pineapple-glazed crust jars and another three completely "pineappleless" ones.

We tried the pineapple-glazed ones first.

Unfortunately, the glaze was more sweet than tart, so we weren't off to a good start.

We also wished the crust was more "loose" and buttery.

Instead, we found it slightly dry.

So we quickly moved on to the pineappleless tarts.

... Which was overwhelmingly crusty (which makes it rather underwhelming, as oxymoronic as it sounds).

It's like living out a fantasy but only to trip over your feet in the scenario. Not sure how else to describe the taste — we were just a bit sad about it.

Lame as it sounds, having no pineapples in your tart makes you appreciate the times when you had it. Even if you don't actually eat it.

Rating: Four pineapples ???? out of five, but only because we don't like pineapples.
