I earned S$5.06 from buying 4 face masks at Guardian

I paid as per normal and got my money back, plus a little extra tip.

As someone who just entered adulthood, I only began working full-time two months ago.

Before this, I was a typical sleep-deprived and broke Gen Z.

Now I’m just sleep-deprived.

Which means I finally have the means to purchase my own necessities, instead of begging my mum like I used to.

Heard about a ShopBack promotion

For me, sleep deprivation means one thing: bad skin.

I needed skincare products.

And despite having a stable income, I’m still, and will always be, a cheapskate.

I heard about this 150% Cashback thing that ShopBack was promoting so I had to check it out.

It sounded too good to be true.

I had never used ShopBack before but with a possible good deal, I couldn’t resist.

150% Cashback at Guardian for new ShopBack GO customers

Turns out, it was 100% true!

Until Nov. 24, new ShopBack GO customers will receive 150% Cashback (up to S$7.50) at Guardian outlets.

It felt like I won the lottery.

Twice.

Because the promotion doesn’t just stop there.

New customers will receive S$5 Cashback when they apply the Reward Code — which can be found at the stores— before their first purchase.

Awesome.

The promotions are applicable to those who have previously been shopping online with ShopBack too.

As long as you’re new to ShopBack GO, you’re good to go.

But take note: only one redemption per account in a single receipt is allowed.

In addition, if you accumulate a spend of S$80 at Guardian, you will receive S$8 off your next purchase as a loyalty reward.

How to use ShopBack GO

If you don’t know what ShopBack GO is, it basically gives you Cashback when you go out to eat and shop.

It’s simple to use too.

All you have to do is link a credit or debit card to your ShopBack account.

Once you’ve done that, you can shop outside like you normally would and pay with your linked card.

You’ll get Cashback in your ShopBack account afterwards.

The best thing is, you don’t even have to spend the Cashback money when you receive it.

You can withdraw the money or transfer it to your bank/PayPal account.

Free money just like that.

Buying face masks from Guardian

Using the ‘Outlets Near You’ function, I searched for the nearest Guardian store near me.

Fortunately, there was one which was a walking distance from where I was.

There were St. Ives face masks selling at S$2 each.

I bought four of those, which added up to S$7.44 before GST.

I then happily swiped my linked credit card at the cashier.

Next thing I knew, I received S$12.50, which consisted of the S$7.50 bonus Cashback and an additional S$5 Cashback upon making my first purchase.

Not only was the amount I paid for fully covered, but I also earned S$5.06.

The sweet stench of free money.
