President Halimah Yacob is on a state visit to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Aside from being one of the largest oil suppliers in the world and a prominent Middle Eastern power, Saudi Arabia is also home to Makkah, the holiest site in Islam.

Photos of Halimah and her husband Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee performing Umrah in Makkah were shared on Facebook on Nov. 8.

The Saudi Arabian Press Agency also reported on President Halimah being received by officials in Makkah.

The Umrah is a minor pilgrimage to Makkah for Muslims.

It is similar to the Hajj, but it can be undertaken at any time of the year.

As part of the Umrah, pilgrims are required to perform the tawaf ritual, where they circle the Ka'ba.

President meets King

Earlier on Nov. 6, Halimah called on King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who hosted a State Banquet Lunch in her honour.

King Salman invited Singapore to participate in the G20 meetings, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2020, which Singapore accepted.

President Halimah was also conferred with the King Abdulaziz Medal by King Salman, which is the highest civilian honour in Saudi Arabia.

After Riyadh, Halimah visited Jeddah, where she met with members of a Singapore Business Federation delegation and the Singaporean community in the Saudi Arabian city.
