Domestic helper, 30, killed after pushing toddler away before being hit by car at Lentor Ave

It was initially assumed the woman was the toddler's mother.

A 30-year-old woman pedestrian who died after getting hit by a car along Lentor Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 5, has been reveled to be a domestic helper.

According to previous media reports, the woman was pushing the two-year-old boy in a stroller before the accident, but she managed to push him out of the way.

Social media responses to the news assumed the woman who was killed was the mother of the toddler.

Lianhe Zaobao reported that it was raining when the accident occurred.

Reporters saw prayer offerings placed on a grass patch by the road when they visited the site of the accident on Wednesday morning, Nov. 6.

The car's windshield was reportedly shattered and the front of the car was wrecked.

The police said in a statement:

At 10.54am on Nov. 5, the police were alerted to an accident involving a car and two pedestrians along Lentor Avenue towards Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

One of the pedestrians, a 30-year-old woman was unconscious when conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries.

Another pedestrian, a two-year-old boy, was conveyed conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

The driver, a 44-year-old man, was subsequently arrested for careless driving causing death.
