A Facebook post on Nov. 7 called attention to the plight of a Korean man working in Singapore who lost his phone.

According to the post by Sherry Sulyanna, which included a photo of a flyer, the man lost his Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on Nov. 2 and is offering a S$1,000 reward for its return.

Family photos

The post has gained over 2,100 shares as of Nov. 12.

However, his main motivation for recovering the phone is to get back the photos of his family that are stored inside.

According to the flyer, he said, "It has all my family photos over the years. As I've been far from my home country, those photos are my entire memories and I can't afford to lose them."

Years of photos missing

Speaking to Mothership, the man, who gave his name as Lee, said he first came to Singapore about nine years ago to work in the finance sector.

Although he has backed up some of his photos and data, his last such recoverable backup took place about five years ago.

As such, there are about five years' worth of photos with his family that are now missing.

Lee recalls hailing a cab in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday, Nov. 2 around 3:15am to 3:45am at Clark Quay.

He paid the cab driver in cash, but realised that his phone was missing after he alighted.

Unfortunately, he can't remember the cab's license plate number nor its colour, but said he has lodged a query with Comfort.

Last detected in Jalan Bukit Merah

The last known location of his phone was at Blk 139, Jalan Bukit Merah.

Lee put up some flyers about his missing phone in that area, where it was presumably spotted and shared to Facebook by Sherry.

Lee said he appreciated Singapore as a friend of his previously managed to find a missing phone here, so he is "trying his luck with sincere trust".

He is offering a reward of S$1,000 for someone who can return his phone to him.

But according to Lee, it is about more than the money. He told Mothership:

"The phone doesn’t really matter to me, (but) the family photos that have been taken over the past few years are very precious to me. I will be very grateful if I could get it back."

If you have found and wish to return Lee's phone, please call or send a message to 9639 9498.
