Ah Mah Homemade Cake selling salted egg yolk sponge cakes for S$12 till Nov. 30, 2019

Since its official launch in Singapore on July 14, 2017, Ah Mah Homemade Cake has reportedly sold over one million cakes here alone.

However, the cake shop chain from Malaysia that specialises in castella cakes has seen its long queues dwindling over the past year.

Perhaps in a bid to bring back the crowd, the brand has launched a new cake with salted egg yolk.

Golden salted egg sponge cake (S$12)

The Golden Salted Egg Sponge Cake will be available at all outlets till Nov. 30, 2019.

This is basically a rendition of the signature light and fluffy castella cake with crumbled salted egg bits.

Here is a video of the cake making process:

The signature batter is first layered with a smooth custard before golden salted egg crumble is sprinkled in between each layer.

Finally, almond flakes top the batter before it is baked.
