Don't do drugs because drugs will kill you.

But three men were apparently saved by drugs in one of the most unusual ways possible: By hanging on to coke floats.

Let us explain.

Coke floats

Three suspected drug smugglers were unexpectedly saved by their hoard of cocaine packs when their boat capsized off the Colombian coast, according to Sky News.

To prevent themselves from drowning in the Pacific Ocean, they clung onto bundles of floating cocaine.

Cocaine is also known as "coke", so they were literally surviving on coke floats.

Rescued and caught by Coast Guard officers

The unlucky trio were fortunately found and rescued after being stranded for at least three hours in the water.

But it turned out that their saviours were Colombian army officers.

Of course, their rescuers had a few questions regarding their unusual makeshift floats.

Investigations revealed that their hoard of cocaine floats amounted to roughly 1.2 tonnes of cocaine hydrochloride.

The trio have been charged with drug trafficking and manufacturing narcotics.
