Some 10 or more children wearing school uniform in Puchong, Malaysia were caught on video being squeezed into a regular hatchback by a woman.

The video was uploaded on Facebook on Oct. 22.

Two primary school children could be seen trying to find space in the boot of the car that was filled with school bags.

As the children in the boot appeared to be struggling to make space, some seven more children exited the vehicle from the front and rear doors.

Based on the video, it appeared as if the children were getting into the car, but the video subsequently showed the children, including girls, getting off and walking away.

As there appeared to be more children in the back seat of the car, the total number of passengers could easily number more than 10 individuals.

The video has been watched more than 800,000 times and has more than 23,000 shares.

Outraged

The video has naturally sparked concern and outrage in Malaysia regarding the safety of the children.

Oriental Daily News reported that the head of SJKC Kheng Chee Puchong's parents' association, Li Weihong, confirmed that the primary school students in the video were from the school.

The woman was said to be a childcare provider tasked with picking the children up after school.

The parents' association has offered to intervene and help out with the transportation of the children, but the incident took place after school hours and it is a matter outside of the school's jurisdiction.

The parents of the children in the video have since lodged complaints with the childcare provider after being contacted by the parents' association.

The children involved have also been counselled about the dangers of travelling in such a fashion.

"From the video, you can see that the students did not know how dangerous the situation was, and even found it fun, laughing and playing as they climbed into the car boot," Li said, according to AsiaOne.

"We have contacted the students in the video to educate them on the importance of traffic safety, how to respond to situations and proper knowledge of traffic rules."
