On Sep. 26 a man slashed and robbed a dentist after his root canal treatment. He then took her money and fled.

According to The Star, police received a call about an incident at a dental clinic on Jalan 14/22, Section 14, SEA Park.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said that the suspect came in for a dental procedure at 9.30 am.

He used another man's MyKad register.

ACP Zani added:

"Checks with the National Registration Department revealed the MyKad belonged to a man named Murali. We analysed CCTV footage from a nearby restaurant, which shows a skinny man with dark complexion running away while carrying a black bag belonging to the victim."

According to Kwongwah Daily, the photo of the suspect was released on the morning of Sep. 27.

Victim suffered near-fatal gash neck

The forensic team found a folding knife at the scene of the crime which was apparently used to slash the dentist, a 57-year-old woman.

ACP Zani said that the victim suffered a gash to her neck, which luckily missed an artery that could have led to her death.

The victim is currently in a stable condition and receiving treatment at Assunta Hospital, with Kwongwah Daily reporting that the victim was able to speak.

The suspect fled with at least RM2,000 (S$660) in cash and the victim's documents.

The case is currently being investigated under penal code section 384 for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.

Police are tracing the whereabouts of the suspect.
