Host, comedian and person with many accents Trevor Noah has postponed his scheduled appearance in Hong Kong indefinitely, highlighting how protests are not funny.

Organiser LA Comedy Live announced on its website on Tuesday, Aug 20 about this decision amid ongoing protests in the city.

Noah performed two sold-out shows back-to-back in Singapore on Monday as part of his Loud and Clear tour.

He was set to perform at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday.

The South African-born comedian is host of The Daily Show.

Statement

LA Comedy Live said in its statement: “The safety of the artiste and the attendees has always been our top priority and we have been working on the rescheduled date of the event.”

Hong Kong protests mentioned in Singapore shows

Noah weaved the Hong Kong protests into his Singapore shows on Monday evening at The Star Performing Arts Centre.

Reports of street protesters cleaning up after themselves impressed him, he said.

He also praised the protesters at Hong Kong International Airport.

They had apologised to travellers inconvenienced by their actions, which had led to about 1,000 flights being grounded earlier this month.

He remarked: "I have never been on anyone's side more."

Customers who have bought tickets to the Hong Kong show can expect a full refund via ticketing agent HK Ticketing.
