Father-daughter duo receive award for catching upskirt peeping tom at West Coast Plaza

Helping to make Singapore a safer place.

On August 23, 2019, a father and daughter duo were given the Singapore Police Force's Public Spiritedness Award for helping to catch a peeping tom.

The incident

On June 23, 2019, Mr Loo King Keong and his daughter Ms Alethea Luo Jiayi were walking down the stairs of an overhead bridge near 154 West Coast Road.

They noticed a man placing a mobile phone underneath the skirt of a woman while they were travelling on an adjacent escalator that was moving upwards.

Here is the possible location of the incident.

Mr Loo and his daughter immediately went forward to confront the man, who tried to flee.

However, both father and daughter managed to detain him until the Police arrived.

Third awardee

At the ceremony, Augustine Luo received the award on behalf of Alethea Luo, along with Mr Loo.

A third awardee - Mohamed Juhairi Bin Juma'at was also present.

On May 23, 2019, Juhairi saw a man standing on a stool near the parapet at Blk 58 Lengkok Bahru.

He reacted swiftly and managed to bring the man to safety, staying with him till the Police arrived.

Praised

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Jarrod Pereira, Commander of Clementi Police Division said, "Singapore is one of the safest places in the world and the community plays a big part in making this possible."

"These individuals have acted courageously, and their actions have resulted in a safer community for all."

A job well done indeed.
