Ethos

Opened on August 22, 2019, Belimbing Superstar was envisioned as a collaboration between chefs and homecooks to recreate Peranakan culture through food.

62-year-old Ben Teo is the head chef, and coincidentally also the man behind Peranakan Flavours at Tan Quee Lan Street.

The founders of Belimbing Superstar worked with Teo to come up with recipes, techniques and ingredients.

Peranakan cai png

What's special about Belimbing Superstar is their cai png (economical rice) concept, which allows customers to have solo meals at their restaurant, unlike other Peranakan restaurants where dishes usually have to be shared amongst a few people.

According to 8 days, the average price per person is approximately S$16 to S$18 for two meats and a veg.

Dishes to expect include Ayam Buah Keluak (S$7.50), Pork Belimbing (S$8), Hae Chor (S$8 for 4 pieces of prawn rolls), Yam Cake (S$5 for two), Tofu Bomb (S$3.80 for two), Chap Chye (S$5), Babi Pongteh (S$6.50), Wing Bean Kerabu (S$5), and desserts like nyonya kueh, cheng tng and coconut jelly.
