When Pokemon Go was first introduced in 2016, it sent everyone into a Poke-hunting frenzy.

Since then, interest in the game has pretty much waned amongst the masses, yet it still remains popular with the older generation.

One particular elderly Pokemon Go player in Taiwan, however, has taken the game to the next level.

Passionate grandpa

Chen San-yuan, 70, is so passionate about the mobile game, that he built a strange contraption attached to the front of his bicycle.

The contraption helps to hold up multiple phones, all of which Chen uses to play Pokemon Go simultaneously.

He cycles around the suburbs of Taipei, catching Pokemon and spinning Pokestops, which allows the player to collect useful items like berries, reported The Business Times.

Chen has since become something of an internet celebrity, with people snapping photos of him and his bicycle contraption whenever they spot him, and uploading it to social media.

He has even been dubbed by the media as "Pokemon Go Grandpa".

Evolution

Photos online appear to provide a chronological timeline of Chen and the evolution of his phones.

According to CNA, Chen started off with six phones strapped to his bicycle.

Here's Chen in August 2018, with nine phones:

Asus Zenfone ambassador

Chen and his ingenuity and passion for Pokemon Go eventually caught the eye of Taiwan-based tech giant Asus in March 2019.

The firm then decided to make him the ambassador for their Asus ZenFone series, according to Mashable.

They gifted Chen with 22 Asus Zenfone Max Pros to replace his current phones.

The elderly man even appeared at an Asus press conference to talk about the phone's capabilities.
