No shame in knowing what you're looking for.

Love can be left to chance and discovered in unexpected places, but some would rather take destiny into their own hands.

While dating apps are the preferred choice for many these days, others who are more old-school still favour the good old printed method of lonely hearts ads.

Looking for a soulmate who earns at least S$10,000/month

One such ad, which was published in Lianhe Zaobao on Saturday, July 13, is supposedly by a 44-year-old woman who is a Singapore Permanent Resident.

The ad was explicit with its terms: The woman wrote that she is searching for a "lifetime companion" who earns at least S$10,000 a month.

"征友", more casually, could also mean looking for a "friend" or "date".

The woman described herself as:

  • 44 years old
  • Nice facial features
  • 1.67m tall
  • Weighs 55kg
  • Singapore PR
  • Financially independent
  • Holds a local degree

The criteria of the "lifetime companion" the woman is supposedly looking for include:

  • Singaporean Chinese or PR
  • 40 to 53 years old
  • At least 1.75m tall
  • Holds at least a bachelor's degree
  • Lives in a condominium or better
  • Owns a car
  • Monthly salary of S$10,000 or above

The ad, however, did not explicitly state the gender of the person sought after.

In addition, the ad warned people from calling the number listed, unless they are "truly sincere" or suit the criteria listed.

How much did ad cost?

According to Singapore Press Holdings advertisement cost calculator, the cost for putting up such an ad for one day on a Saturday is an estimated S$2,365.

This is so as the ad is about twice the size of the other ads:
