On July 6, 2019, a man named Jonathan Lee took to Singapore General Hospital's (SGH) Facebook page to commend a housekeeping staff at the hospital, Isvari N Veloo, for assisting his elderly father in getting down from an overhead bridge.

The post has since gone viral, with more than 3,700 likes and over 1,100 shares:

Breakdown of the situation

In the post, Lee said that his father was stranded on an overhead bridge in Chinatown on that same day for three hours due to the loss of strength in both his legs.

Although there were many passers-by who tried to render help, they did not know how to move him.

That was, until Isvari came to the rescue.

Lee wrote that Isvari promptly helped to assess the situation with her experience and knowledge.

Isvari also directed others to help move the elderly man to ground level where Lee's siblings could then transport him home.

"We are truly and deeply grateful for a kind Samaritan like Mdm Veloo. Without her assistance and guidance, I think my sisters and our father would have been stranded on that bridge for a much longer time on a very humid and warm day.

I hope SGH will recognise her kindness and more importantly, her dedication to her profession."

Lee also attached a photo of Isvari after her kind gesture, adding that her perspiration and genuine smile really touched his family.

Praised for kind heart

Facebook users responded to Lee's post positively, with an overwhelming number of them praising Isvari for her kind heart and a job well done:
