109 drug suspects arrested island-wide

The Central Narcotics Bureau conducted an island-wide operation from July 7 to 12, 2019.

A total of 109 suspected drug offenders were arrested.

Areas covered during the operation included Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Chai Chee, Geylang, Punggol, Serangoon, Tampines, and Woodlands.

The total amount of drugs seized included:

  • 274g of new psychoactive substances (NPS),
  • 91g of ‘Ice’,
  • 87g of heroin,
  • 33g of ketamine,
  • 381 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets,
  • 98 Erimin-5 tablets and
  • a small amount of cannabis,

The street value was estimated to be about S$32,000.

Father-son drug duo with companions

In one instance, four suspected drug abusers, consisting of a father-son duo with their female companions, were arrested.

The arrests were made in a unit in the vicinity of Woodlands Rise.

The two males were aged 41 and 20, while the two females were aged 25 and 18.

CNB officers had to force their way into the unit as the suspects refused to comply with the order to open the door.

Small amounts of heroin, "Ice" and ketamine were recovered from within the unit.

Two suspected drug offenders arrested at Geylang budget hotel

In another raid on July 9, two suspected drug offenders were arrested after a raid on a budget hotel room in Geylang.

The two suspects were a female foreign national, 27, and a Singaporean male, 40.

A total of about 58g of "Ice", 33g of ketamine, 378 "Ecstasy" tablets and 98 Erimin-5 tablets were recovered from the room.

Investigations into the drug activities of all the arrested persons are ongoing.
