If you've ever thought to yourself, "My ex is vermin," congratulations, this deal is just the thing for you.

For the upcoming Valentine's Day, Hemsley Conservation Centre (HCC) in the UK is offering the opportunity to name a cockroach after your ex:

The action will cost you only £1.50 (S$2.60) -- a small price to pay to indulge your pettiness.

Certificate for the occasion

Furthermore, those who buy into the programme will not only get a cockroach named after your ex, but also a certificate for the occasion.

You ex's name won't be on the certificate, though, as the organisation does not want to "fuel a fire".

However, the name will appear on the roach board by the zoo's cockroach enclosure.

Here are a couple of things to note, should you be keen to name a critter:

  • First names only
  • Click on "add note" at the checkout stage so that the HCC staff will know to put our ex's name of the roach board

You can name your roach here.

Singapore appears as a shipping option under the checkout page.

Not a new practice

HCC is using the "name a cockroach programme" to raise money for the projects at their zoo.

They even took the pains to explain why they didn't call it an adoption programme:

"[...] We think adopt is a little too strong, after all -- you probably don't want to adopt your ex [...]"

This, however, is not a novelty -- Bronx Zoo in New York started the practice as early as 2011.
