Previously, images of a farmer in Thailand went viral because of his smiling selfies with his buffaloes:

More recently, a boy and his cattle similarly shot to fame after a photo of them won an Asian Geographic competition.

Asian Geographic is a Singapore-based magazine that focuses mainly on stories about Asia.

Here's the photo, taken by Malaysian photographer Mohd Nazri Sulaiman.

The photo, titled "Sharing Emotion", competed in the Street People Photographer of the Year in the Images of Asia competition in 2018.

According to Malaysian newspaper Harian Metro, the boy in the photo is 14-year-old Mohd Syukur Khamis from Terengganu. 

Since the competition, more photos of Syukur and his cattle have been shared online. Besides Nazri, it is reported that another photographer from Dollah Deen Photography also worked on the project.

Harian reveals that the animals are reared by Syukur's father, and the boy has been close to the animals since young.

In fact, the buffalos were so close to Syukur that they received his instructions faithfully, which greatly facilitated the photoshoot.

The boy said that he is similarly bonded to his father's cows, goats, and geese, and shared with mStar that he hopes to open a zoo one day.

Speaking to Harian, Syukur said:

" I am not proud that the photos are popular, but happy because my father was often humiliated for being a buffalo farmer. Today, I have made my father proud and changed everyone's perception towards his job."
