Seng Kee Black Herbal Chicken Soup is an eatery along Changi Road, famous for their mee sua.

But they are now also famous for other hot and steamy things, because someone apparently hacked their television set using the establishment's own WiFi network to stream gay porn.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident occurred on Oct. 7, around 10pm.

A 12-second video of the scene has since made its way to Reddit Singapore.

Eatery staff did not notice

The video sees a lady customer who looks up and spots the lurid content while having her meal.

A moment later, her male companion was also alerted to the porn.

The two continue to gawk at the TV.

However, Seng Kee's staff were too busy to notice what was happening, SMDN reported.

It was only when Chen, a 68-year-old server, saw customers take out their phones to film the television set located high up on the wwall that they realised the screen and its contents have been compromised.

SMDN added that Chen switched off the television set immediately.

TV uses same WiFi network as customers

Another staff explained that the eatery had mounted a smart TV some months ago, and that it is connected to the same WiFi network provided to members of the public.

Apparently, this set-up means that anyone who connects to the WiFi will be able to stream the contents of their phone on to the TV.

A SMDN reporter even went down to confirm that it was indeed possible to control the TV with a phone, as long as both gadgets are connected to the same network.

However, the staff told SMDN that they have no idea who the culprit was, and are not eliminating the possibility the act was a prank.

The same staff also insisted that this was not an inside job, as the servers were too busy to fiddle with the TV, and could not possibly have such content on their phones.

No more WiFi

To prevent a similar incident from happening, Seng Kee has stopped providing free WiFi to its customers.

Two possible actions will be taken, the staff told SMDN: Either the smart TV's capabilities will be disabled, or a different WiFi network will be provided to customers.
