There are more private-hire car services entering Singapore's market, but it seems not everyone signing up as a driver is doing it just to make a quick buck.
A sweet story involving a Ryde driver and a lost dog was recently shared on Facebook.
Rider was with a lost dog
According to a Facebook post by Daneil Tay, he took a lost dog to the vet to check if it was micro-chipped.
He booked a Ryde bound for his destination in Sengkang, and his booking was quickly accepted by a driver named "Ken".
During the car ride, Tay said that he had a phone conversation regarding handing the dog over to a rescuer.
He had two options: He could take the dog to a rescuer with the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore, or take it to a Save Our Street Dogs dog shelter volunteer who lives in Aljunied.
Driver offered to fetch dog
Tay wrote that the "amazingly thoughtful driver offered to bring his lost dog over to Aljunied", and for no extra cost.
According to Tay, this happened when they had arrived at his destination in Sengkang.
In Tay's Facebook post, he also uploaded a screenshot of a conversation he had with Ken:
"This genuinely restored my faith in humanity", Tay wrote.
Tay also said that Ken's kind gesture was really appreciated, and he would "love to see more of this in Singaporeans."
