Man uploads fare comparison between Grab & Ryde, S'poreans rage

Oh no.

Grab was recently hit with a hefty fine of S$6,419,647 (that's more than six million) from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) on September 24, after nearly four months of investigation.

But if this Facebook post by Jake K. Thein is anything to go by, consumer satisfaction has yet to be improved:

S$28 difference

In case you can't see it, here's what the hullabaloo is about.

On September 28, Thein was apparently trying to get a cab from ICA to Hougang.

This was the price:

S$41.

And take note, he was trying to get a JustGrab, which is a slightly cheaper iteration of a normal GrabCar.

Thein then tried getting a Ryde next, which proved to be much more pocket-friendly.

S$13.

Which also happens to be the usual price for Grab.

Price difference comes with caveats

The price difference comes with a caveat though.

Ryde, the other app in question, might not always have drivers available, due to their relatively small size compared to Grab.

But this story had kind of a happy ending:

Commiserations and anger

Many sympathised with Thein's plight and shared their own horror stories:

Oh no.

All the restaurants you ever wanted to try on a massive discount! Did somebody say 'Pince and Pints'?

Have a little money but can't help being kinda lazy? You can still invest using this.
