Mercedes, Audi & Honda brazenly go against traffic at Prinsep Street, supposedly to avoid paying ERP

All to avoid a $3 ERP.

In the span of five minutes, three cars were recorded turning illegally from Rochor Canal Road into Prinsep Street by driving in the opposite direction.

The video was uploaded by a Mk Tëź and shared to the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group.

Avoiding ERP

Mk uploaded the video with the following caption:

"Well done to these 3 cheapskates (one Merc, one Audi, one Honda) trying to dodge the ERP at Sim Lim Square. This all happened in less than 5 mins."

The timestamp of the video indicate that this took place on Tuesday Oct. 9 between 6.53 to 6.58 p.m.

First it was a black Mercedes Benz S-class:

Followed by a white Audi A5 Convertible:

This left pedestrians at the zebra crossing bemused because they normally would only need to check for traffic from one side at this crossing

Lastly, as the video uploader drove towards the zebra crossing, a wild black Honda Freed appeared:

You'd think that the Honda's driver would go "Oh no, I have turned into oncoming traffic. I must reverse and repent."

But nope, the driver fully commits to his turn.

Here's the full video:

The ERP charges to enter the city area at 6.50 p.m. on week days, and in this case a Tuesday evening, is $3. The nearest ERP gantry is one street away on Bencoolen Street.

From Google Maps, one can see that those cars turning into Prinsep Street from Rochor Canal Road need not travel against traffic very far (about 50m) before the direction of the traffic turns in their favour:

Once the cars drive past the car park entrance of Sim Lim Square, they will be back on the right side of the road.

Not new

At least according to some comments on the video, this is not something novel:

Anything to avoid $3 ERP to feed your luxury car, I suppose.
