There are more kind taxi drivers out there than we realise.

Recently, there have some pretty heartwarming stories of Grab drivers.

One intervened to prevent a drunk girl from being taken advantage of:

... while another waited with a female passenger at the lift because it was late:

Adding to this list is a taxi driver who gave a girl in Sengkang a free ride at close to 2am.

Spotted lone girl

William Lee took to Facebook group Singapore Taxi Driver to recount an incident that happened on July 4.

It was around 1:50 am that he spotted a lone teenage girl crossing the junction between Sengkang East Drive and Sengkang East Way junction towards Punggol East.

She must have been walking home after missing the last bus, he thought.

Gave her a free ride

Noting that it was dark and "not a place for a teenage girl to be walking alone", Lee stopped next to her and asked:

"You want a free lift? Are you going to Punggol?"

It turns out that she was going to the Punggol 21 Community Club to watch a World Cup match with her friends.

Pleasantly surprised, she hopped on to his taxi and later “thanked [him] repeatedly before she left”.

In Lee’s post, he wrote that it was a “good day for [him]” and this ending made it all the better.

Girl too trusting, or thoughtful driver?

In response to Lee's Facebook post, some commenters said the girl was very trusting to hop on to his car:

Most of the netizens, however, were full of praise for Lee's thoughtful deed:

By the way, just in case you were wondering, the journey from where the girl was to Punggol 21 CC is a 15-minute walk — about 1.2km:
