Terrified maid spotted standing on windowsill outside Blk 557, Choa Chu Kang

A maid was spotted standing outside a window sill on the eight floor at block 557 in Choa Chu Kang.

She was spotted pressed up against the wall right next to some laundry poles.

Here she is.

She was later seen crouching along the ledge.

A video, uploaded by Jessika Putry, shows the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) staff employing an inflatable mattress at the scene of the incident.

It is unclear why she was in that predicament, but it was allegedly a suicide attempt.

The incident is said to have taken place around 3.30pm, July 21, at Choa Chu Kang, and the maid was reportedly rescued by SCDF and police personnel.

SCDF's comment

Here is SCDF's statement on the incident.

"SCDF was alerted to a rescue incident at an eight floor unit at 557 CCK North 6 at about 3.05pm on 21 July. Upon arrival, SCDF deployed a safety life air packet in front of the block as a precautionary safety measure. A team of rappellers from the SCDF's Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team was also deployed along with a rescue net to pull the woman to safety. The woman was assessed to have suffered minor injuries and was not conveyed to the hospital."
