Taiwanese netizens have a theory: They are suspecting the exposé involving Celia Zhang and the son of former Malaysia prime minister Najib Razak was the actress's own doing.

This was after Taiwan’s Apple Daily broke the news on July 5 that Najib’s son, Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, was dining and gallivanting with the actress.

The duo appeared to have been filmed the entire day for several hours and did not suspect they were being tailed. Najib’s son also did not do anything to conceal his identity.

Why the suspicion?

There are valid reasons for their suspicion:

• Zhang is not an A-lister.
• Mohd Nazifuddin Najib is also not famous in Taiwan.

And thus, the Taiwanese have concluded that the paparazzi will not be bothered to follow two semi-famous people.

Bigger conspiracy theory

Some netizens have a bigger tin foil hat.

• They think that the whistleblower is Zhang herself.
• They also think that Zhang is trying to gain more mileage in the media as there are rumours that she is dating famous Taiwanese Actor Jerry Yan of Meteor Garden fame.

They didn't spend the night together

According to Shin Min Daily News, Zhang's manager said that both Zhang and Nazifuddin didn't spend the night together and they didn't' kiss but didn't deny that they were holding hands.

Duh.

Nazifuddin sees the lighter side of things

While he didn't address the furore, Nazifuddin posted this on July 7 with the caption:

"Im officially afraid of lifts now... But this one looks ok ?? #weddingdinner"
