Another day, another BMW driver who thinks he owns the road.

Bus No. 12 was trying to pull out of the bus bay along Chinatown.

Given that the bus stop was part of the Mandatory Give-Way to Buses Scheme and had a Bus Priority Box, vehicles have to give way to the bus.

Enter the white BMW. It refused to stop and give way to the bus. Instead it opted to speed up and attempt to cut into the bus' lane instead.

However, it only succeeded in hitting the bus from behind.

And that left the BMW with a wrecked front bumper.

Mandatory Give-Way to Buses Scheme

It's amazing that this scheme was started in 2008, but there are still motorists today who do not give way to buses at Bus Priority Boxes.

According to the Land Transport Authority, there are 332 bus stops in Singapore with priority boxes.

If you've ever been stuck on a bus on a jam packed road, you'd know that buses have to some times "muscle" their way across lanes because no one would give way to them.

When it ran trials for this scheme LTA said: "During the trial at 22 bus bays along Bukit Batok East Avenue 3, Toh Tuck Road and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, we found that buses were able to exit the bus bay up to 73 percent faster."

Motorists who do not give way to buses at the priority boxes are committing a traffic offence.
