We're used to posts of cute dogs circulating the internet, but this one will really tug at your heartstrings.

No family

On May 22, local dog rescue/ welfare community SOSD (Save Our Street Dogs) Singapore posted about a little puppy that they found in the middle of the road while making their rounds on offshore Jurong Island:

Sadly, the rescuers were unable to find the puppy's family — and she was in real danger of being roadkill.

Workers nearby also said that they have never seen the dog, or any other puppies/nursing mother in the area prior to this.

Looking for foreverhome

The mongrel, named Thumberlina for her size, is estimated to be around three to four weeks old.

She is currently with a fosterer after being brought back to safety.

However, as fostering is only a temporary measure to get dogs in need off the streets, Thumberlina is still looking for a forever home.

Here are more photos of her:

Not HDB-approved

Unfortunately, HDB only allows one dog of an approved small breed per residential unit — and mongrels are not on the list.

Flat owners found to breach this regulation can be fined up to a maximum of $4,000.

However, according a reply from SOSD in the comments section, exceptions can be made for mongrels who fulfil the following criteria:

  • Be at least 6 months old
  • Below 15kg
  • Below 50cm (from shoulder to floor)
  • Sterilised

This exception is part of Project ADORE, a scheme that gives bigger-sized street dogs a chance to be re-homed.

If you are serious and able to adopt Thumberlina, you can fill up the adopter sign-up form to indicate your interest.
