Frustrated S'porean gives tips to lurking financial consultants, S’poreans concur

‘If not you stop me for what... love at first sight ah.’

Financial consultants are such an integral part of the Singapore landscape that they might soon have their own starter pack  — a crisp shirt/ polo tee, lanyard, clipboard, and opening lines of "Hi are you a student?/ Can you help me do a 2-minute survey?"

But one guy had enough of their ineffective sales tactics and decided to offer some advice, tickling more than a couple of his fellow Singaporeans.

This is his Facebook post:

Injected with a healthy dose of humour, most of Liu's advice revolves around, well, not pestering the unwitting passerby who is clearly not interested.

Here are the pointers Liu provided:

- Don't force yourself on people (yeah, applies here too)

- Don't hide the fact that you're trying to sell people something

- Gifts don't work

Instead, for Liu, it's better to:

- Pass a brochure to the person, even if they reject you — he/she might just read it in their free time.

- Approach people in a straightforward manner, and ask if you could share some policies with them.
