Sometimes, the over-eager foodie in us caters too much food for an event, and we find there is a good amount of leftover.

Usually guests tapau them home as food waste is generally frowned upon.

But according to one Shirley Lc Tan, a caterer whom she claims was serving a wedding at Block 408 Pasir Ris Drive 6 allegedly dumped a large amount of leftover curry gravy into Tampines River.

She took to Facebook with her allegation on Sunday:

She further pointed out that there are monitor lizards and otters from the Pasir Ris family living in the area.

Contaminated water might affect otters

As most of us would know, quite a number of smooth-coated otters have been sighted in Singapore in recent years.

The presence of otters in Singapore, according to the National Environment Agency, are a sign of clean waterways as these wild animals refuse to travel through dirty water.

It's therefore crucial to keep the waters here as clean as possible so as to create a better environment where these adorable animals can continue living in.

NEA contacted

In a comment on the same post, Tan said that she has already reported the matter to the NEA, while another commenter, Lisa Lim, said reports were made to them and the Public Utilities Board, which controls Singapore's reservoirs and waterways.
