Growing up in Singapore since the late 1990s, the Mr Midnight and Mr Mystery horror fiction book series were staples.

The series that is a 12-year-old's answer to Stephen King is written by James Lee, aka Jim Aitchison, an Australian Singapore permanent resident.

(Yes, James Lee is an ang moh.)

Lyricist for patriotic songs

Just when you thought you've found out enough, there's more.

Aitchison wrote lyrics too.

But it's not just any regular pop song, but patriotic ones.

In fact, the lyrics to 1990's National Day song, One People, One Nation, One Singapore was the brainchild of Aitchison.

He also penned the lyrics to My Singapore Story, a song from Sing Singapore '98, a compilation of songs meant to promote original songs written by Singaporeans.

Where is he now?

In 2013, he won the inaugural Australian Arts in Asia Awards for both the Mr Midnight and Mr Mystery series.

According to Aitchison's Wikipedia page, he has moved back to Victoria, Australia in 2010.

Betcha didn't know that.
