Singapore is home to a diverse range of wildlife.
Native vs non-native species
Species that are not native to Singapore are usually introduced by man or are merely visiting.
Native species can either occur naturally (endemic species) or arrive and establish themselves in a location by themselves.
Of all the species native to Singapore, some have gone extinct today due to habitat destruction or poaching. Others still exist in pockets of local vegetation, such as in catchment reserves.
