These Miss Universe S'pore national costume sketches look good enough to eat

She's beauty, she's grace. She can dress as satays.

Miss Universe 2017 was held in Las Vegas on Sunday, Nov. 26, and Singapore had Manuela Bruntraeger to represent us.

While she wasn't crowned Miss Universe 2017, she did get to grace the most important part of the competition — the national costume show, where contestants don outfits to pay homage to each participant's representing country.

Supertree-inspired costume

And in case you weren't aware, Bruntraeger wore a costume inspired by the supertrees from Gardens by the Bay.

Decorated with Vanda Miss Joaquim flowers and bright LED lights, this costume was designed by local designer Moe Kasim.

Here's a look at how Bruntraeger sashayed in the elaborate get-up over her 50 seconds of fame:

VisitSingapore's renditions of the national costume

But since Singapore is famously known as a food paradise, a possible alternative idea could have been to take a banana leaf from Malaysia and dress as our favourite local food.

Our Singapore Tourism Board probably had that idea too, because on Monday, its VisitSingapore Facebook page put up four different potential renditions of the national costume, inspired by well-loved Singaporean food.

And they all look like pretty convincing candidates to us:

Chai tow kway? More like chai tow slay.

And this dress definitely looks as sweet as pandan chiffon cake.

If the peeps at Miss Universe Singapore are looking for national costume ideas for next year, they certainly don't have to look any further.
