Jurong West cat found with cable ties wrapped tightly on 2 legs

A video of its rescue has sparked outrage.

A cat was found with cable ties wrapped tightly around two of its legs in Jurong West.

The incident occurred on Thursday, Nov. 23 and was shared on Facebook:

According to The Straits Times, the incident took place at the foot of Block 698A, Jurong West Central 3, around 6pm.

Unusual cat sounds

Two residents initially heard a cat sounding distressed while on the way home and decided to investigate.

The two residents, Salbiah Ishak, 30, and Rashal Sabeh, 27, found the cat motionless.

Its right front leg and right back leg were tied tightly with a cable tie each.

Rashal tried to calm the cat down, while Salbiah went home to fetch a pair of scissors.

Another passer-by had stopped to help.

The cable ties were then cut and the cat set free.

It ran off and appeared to be fine.

Authorities looking into it

The incident has resulted in widespread outraged.

The Cat Welfare Society is looking into the matter and has informed the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) about it.
