A security guard's job is tough, as they have to face unpredictable situations every day, and may sometimes come across uncooperative and unreasonable members of the public.

On Sept. 14, a security guard in Ankang, a city China's Shaanxi province, was reportedly whipped by an angry uncle using his top-spinning whip, just because the guard was spoiling his fun.

Uncooperative uncle

Top-spinning is a traditional Chinese game and a favourite hobby of many elderly Chinese. The whip makes loud whacking noises when it is used to keep the top spinning on the ground.

The top and the whip look like this:

In this case, residents had complained about the loud noise and safety concerns arising from the top-spinning activity the uncle was practicing in the residential neighbourhood.

A security guard was dispatched to ask the uncle to leave. This antagonized the uncle who started shouting vulgarities at the guard and continued to whip his spinning top.

The security guard then stood right beside the old man's spinning top, assuming that this would make him stop. However, the uncle began to whip both his spinning top and the guard's legs, tearing apart his socks and injuring him.

Police soon arrived to manage the situation and stop the uncle. The episode ended when the uncle's family came to apologise to the security guard.

Here's a video of the incident in the news:
